How did Washington St. hang around with the Trojans last year in Pullman?
Maybe it's attitude....or maturity...or the subtraction of Lane Kiffin....but this 2007 USC Trojans team can apparently score at will. In rolling to an easy 47-14 win, it was John David Booty who played a starring roll. JD was 28-35 for 279 yards and 4 TDs.
It was great to see TE Fred Davis get into the act. He has a chance to be a big-time Antonio Gates-style pass-catching TE, but until yesterday, he was very quiet. 9 catches, 2 for TDs, is quite a day. Chauncey Washington ran 11 times for 84 yards as the starter, and Stefan Johnson and Joe McKnight went for 48 yards apiece.
It was a spectacular night for football. It's nice to have a little rain and cool temps at the Coliseum. I say bring it on. It beats the 95 degree heat the day of the Idaho game.
Big shout out to our promotions guys at 710 ESPN. The stage that we set up at the Peristyle end of the Coliseum is spectacular. Bill Lennert runs the show with help from Brandon Graham, Nick Tarantino and Skyler Tobey.
Brian Long produced the USC Gameday and Ann Beebe did her usual great job producing Trojan Warm-Up. Everybody I work ith on the pregame shows is fantastic inluding David Newberry (who was wearing a $120 vintage t-shirt yesterday), Darryl Riddeaux (who regularly tries to sell me his financial planning services), Coach Harvey Hyde (who gets a lot of his information from wht he calls "the internet system"), Brandon Hancock (who would prefer to do the show without his shirt on) and John Jackson (who has approximately 1,000 people an hour coming to the stage to BS with him during our 1 hour segment together).
It all adds up to a great broadcast team....almost as good as the team we get to cover every Saturday.
